With the fast-paced electronic communication of today, the way we process insurance applications, policies and other requests for our clients has changed in recent years. More and more, we are electronically transmitting documents with personal or private information in them. This speeds up the process of securing insurance and provides great ease of doing business, for our clients as well as the agency. However, it also places our clients’ information at risk.
Also, with the adoption of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), it is required that all communications containing Protected Health Information (PHI) be secured. It is critical for our Employee Benefits Department to use a secure method of communication to protect our clients’ PHI.
With the goal of protecting our clients’ information, we have entered into an agreement with ZixCorp to provide secure email communications. ZixCorp’s services allow us to send encrypted email messages to anyone, whether they are ZixCorp customers or not. We hope you will agree that the system is easy to use and provides an additional measure of security to your important personal information.
Email Recipients
To meet HIPAA regulations and to comply with improved best practice standards, all email communication you receive from us containing any information of a private nature or any PHI (Protected Health Information) will be sent through ZixCorp Secure Email Services. This will provide a way for you to both receive and read encrypted communications from us. You will also be provided with a method of returning information you would like protected through the same system.
We are in the business of protecting you through many different kinds of insurance. This is just one more way we can protect you by protecting the privacy of our communication with you.
